Am I missing something?

Today I spent a large part of the day cleaning. I cleaned and reorganized my pantry, fridge and freezer(both). And of course the rest of my house is a wreck. This was not a typical day, but that happens to me a lot. I feel like I clean and pick up after my kids constantly, but my house is always a mess! What is wrong with this picture!! I have friends who have more kids than I do and their homes are neat and clean. In fact I could drop by their house any time any day(and I have) and their homes are totally clean, even their kids rooms, with beds made and all. What is my problem? Am I doing something wrong? Is there some grand trick to it that I don't know? If there is, someone please fill me in!

no, you are COMPLETELY NORMAL! I just try and at least have my dishes done and my living room picked up at all times- which still doesn't always happen. Every time I turn around there are toys EVERYWHERE! I swear I tell them to keep the toys in the toy room 50 times a day. Don't stress about it, you just had a baby, for crying out loud! And, your house always is super clean!

Maybe the secret for the other people is that if they have lots of kids, especially if those kids are older, they have more help! Give it a couple of years, and have a few more kids, you'll be set in about 10 years :)

okay, first of all, i was at your house just a week or so ago, and it was beautiful and verrry clean! so i don't know what you're talking about!
and second of all, you're making those of us who haven't reproduced yet look very bad! my house is rarely clean and i basically live alone! lol :)

I feel the same way. I like to blame it on a husband who is never here, a 3-year-old terror, and a packrat daughter, plus the fact that I'm terrible at laundry. The times when I make it a priority to keep the house clean the whole day, I am exhausted and don't think it is worth it. I am trying something new-a Motivated Mom chore planner that breaks down chores for each day (for example, today I might have to clean out the middle shelf of the fridge, dust the living room, and do mending). I can send you a link. I just started it, so I don't know if it will work or not, but I feel your pain!

I feel the same way. I think moms are just really hard on them selves. I have relaxed a lot more the past 6 months, about house work. It is more important to spend time with Lauren while she is little. I only have one two year old and I still have a hard time keeping the house the way I want it.
